wow...look at all the new posts!!!

so i decided that since i couldn't keep blogging on my previous blog that i would just transfer them over to this new one...so here they are...for your reading..or re-reading pleasure..enjoy!!

The one where i gave blood

i gave a pint of my own.....hard earned....blood last night.....this is the second time i have done this and i really don't mind doing it at all....in fact i enjoy it......here's why:

FREE SNACKS.....juice.....chips (i always choose the fritos)....cookies

A SWEET BANDAGE.....that looks like you just got back from iraq

COMFORATABE CHAIRS......as i was reclining in my chair waiting for the nurse i couldn't help but wonder if i could purchace a chair like this....so comforatable

A FREAKING PINT OF BASKIN ROBBINS.....whatever flavor i want.....enough said

and i only have to wait eight weeks before i can do it again.....yes!

The one with the little known wendy fact #8

this one is so little known that even i forgot about it until this morning while i was on the road with kev to go and pay our storage rent....on the way to the storage place we drove by my high school and the restaurant that my freinds and i used to eat at everday for lunch....it's called rudy's and all the cool people went there......or to in-n-out.....anyways.....seeing rudy's brought back all of these memories particularly what i would typically order for my lunch.....3 tortillas and a side of salsa.....the best part about this is that it only cost $0.75 and it was actually pretty filling.....if i happened to have some more money i would instead order a bean and cheese burrito with less beans and extra cheese and i'd smother it in ketchup.....so good...now you may be wondering where the little known fact comes in so i will get to the point.....my parents very rarely gave me money for food.....i would usually have a sack lunch...so in order for me to get to enjoy delicious rudy's cuisine i would have to con it out of people.....the method i always chose....this is genius mind you......was to go around the halls of my school asking people to give me a quarter so i could call my mom on the pay phone.....i would do this over and over again until i had collected all the money i felt like i required for the day......and i would do this all of the time and usually make a fine profit.....so.....little may you know.....i am actually a con artist...i am sawyer

The one that had me on the floor laughing..figuratively speaking

ok so the other night i was riding with kev to a freind's house to watch LOST....and we were talking about the show project runway...come to find out......my husband cannot say the words project....and runway...together.....it kept coming out as pwoject wunway.....proyect yunway......prorect runray...and so on and so forth.....so keep this little fact in mind the next time you are around him and can use a laugh....it is hillarious

by the way....this is a picture of the kev opening his stocking on christmas morning.....and yes he is excited to get socks...he really likes them

The one with the little known wendy fact #7

this is going to be another weird one to some of you...much like the counting one.....so i discovered this talent i had in high school of speaking using only the first letters of every word...my freind noelle and i would always communicate this way....we always did things like wlgc.....meaning we love grilled cheese.....basically it was always this same idea of we love something and we'd have to guess it or whatever...it was this fun thing that we would do to pass the time of high school.....i found out that i was pretty good at this way of thinking and one day i realized that i could sing the entire chorus of that american pie song (you know....bye bye miss american pie) using only the first letter of every word....so here it goes......B-B-M-A-P-D-M-C-T-T-L-B-T-L-W-D-A-G-O-B-W-D-W-A-R-S-T-W-B-T-D-T-I-D-T-W-B-T-D-T-I-D.......and there is another example of me being borderline crazy

The one with my favorite movies of now and then #2

MOVIE OF NOW # 2
I absolultely love the movie Garden State

.....the characters are great...the story is great.....the writing is great......it's one of those movies that makes you happy and sad at the same time...at the end you are just happy though....which is the best...it's no fun to go away from a movie feeling all sad and depressed.....like when kev and i saw the movie Cold Mountain.....the most depressing, horrible movie ever....anyways....the other thing wonderful about this film is the soundtrack.....it is amazing....it's one of those cd's that i would want if i was on a deserted island that happened to have a cd player......this movie is rated r for a reason though so be prepared for lots o' cussing and drug stuff and a scene that should just be skipped over....other than that this is an amazing movie.....very fun and worth seeing....especially if you are a fan of natalie portman

MOVIE OF THEN #2......The Opposite Sex

this is an old musical that is so fun....as you can tell i love musicals and this has quickly become one of my favorites.....there's not a whole lot of singing in it which is nice and the story is great....basically it is about a group of rich snobby women who prey on eachother's unhappiness due to their own insecurities....but it is all done in a very catty yet fun, playful way....the clothes in this movie are amazing....some of the best dresses i have ever seen.....i could watch this movie over and over again...the only problem is that i don not own it...if i ever want to watch it i have to rent it from the RSM library... not so fun

The one with my favorite movies of now and then #1

i wasn't kidding about the blogging more often part of my last blog and to prove this i am starting a new series about my favorite movies.....in this i will tell you of 2 movies that i love....one that is old and one that is more modern......there is no particular order here...as far as favorites go.....i don't have any official "favorite" movie.....but rather tons of movies that i love.......obviously i recommend these films as wothy of seeing if you have not already seen them......i hope you enjoy this.......

MOVIE OF NOW #1......Notting Hill

now i wouldn't call myself a lover of "chick flicks" but this one is definetly an exception to the rule...this is such a good movie....i love the characters, the english accents, the story line, and the cast.....my favorite part of this movie is the end because instead of just having a happy ending and then litterally ending it has a little montage of their lives....so you get to see them actually living happily ever after which is an important part of the story that most films do not include....to be fair there is one thing in the movie that i do not like....there is a mild love scene....there is no nudity which i appreciate and it is done tastefully.....but nonetheless it is there....all in all i highly recommend this movie....you will really enjoy it.....plus it has a great soundtrack

MOVIE OF THEN #1....SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS

this is a movie that i have loved for pretty much my entire life....i grew up watching musicals and this is one of the best if not the best...it has a great cast, great dancing, great songs, it's totally entertaining, it's so FUN......not to mention funny...there is this song in it called "Bless Your Beautiful Hide"....kev loves this song and sings it often......even if you think you don't like musicals you will probably enjoy it...it's in color and looks amazing on DVD....i will totally let you borrow it if you are interested

The one that i like to call unemployment

as of an hour and a half ago kev and i are both unemployed.....i know that this may freak some people out but let me say how EXCITED i am......now we are not expecting this period to last for that long so i intend to make the most of it....here is what i plan to do......

  • sleep
  • do some painting.....for us and for gifts
  • kick box all the time
  • watch some tv/movies
  • read some books/magazines
  • spend some quality time with God
  • spend some quality time with kev
  • go to disneyland
  • hang out with freinds
  • do some cooking
  • blog a lot more than i have been
  • make my costume for allison's LOST party

i am just so excited about this time...i feel like it is my first real opportunity to unwind since all of the major change that has happened in our lives...with my dad's illness and death....not to mention the loss of 3 other family members.....with kev's job at saddleback ending.....and with us moving back in with kev's parents....i am looking forward to some much needed time to hang out and get recharged for whatever God has next for us

The one with the little known wendy fact #6

ok so i love going to disneyland......mind you i am not one of those people who love to go to disneyland wearing all of the disney paraphanalia that they own (i.e. mickey gloves, a goofy hat, a disneyland annual pass holder necklace, a dopey t-shirt, and a grumpy sweatshirt/jacket in case it gets cold, a minnie purse and maybe even tigger overalls)....no no that is not the kind of love that i have for disneyland.....i just love how nostalgic it is there....now i have been there a ton and i always tell kev that i could probably go everyday and not get tired of it....sure there are some elements that i don't like (the gazillion people, tomorrow land, the tram ride from the parking structure)....but then there are the things about it that i love and have so many memories of (going on space mountain with my dad when he was sick, shopping and hanging out there with my mom, being there at christmas time with kev, and all of the times that i would go dancing there with friends when we were young, and how excited i would get when i was a little girl and my parents suprised us with a trip there.....on a school day)....so that is why i love going to disneyland....in fact....i just went there today for my best friend, noelle's, birthday....it was awesome...we had gigantic corndogs and dole whip and i had 2 caramel apples...so good....plus we went on some rides and we pretty much kicked butt at the buzz lightyear game............anyways...needless to say i love disneyland

The one with the little known wendy fact #5

i absolutely love old music...you know standards....ok frank sinatra, dean martin......that kind of stuff......i am sitting here right now listening to this new ella fitzgerald cd that my mom gave me....there is something so encompassing about this music.....it sets a whole scene and reminds me of the good old days......sometimes kev and i play this game where he will play little snippets of songs and i have to guess the artist....i pretty much rule at it and he is always amazed at my talent in this area....i kinda think it could be considered a spiritual gift but who am i to tell....so before i am done with this post i will tell you of some of my favorite singers in this genre....
  • Peggy Lee
  • Billy Holiday
  • Nat King Cole
  • Keely Smith (my mom was named Keely after her)
  • Louis Prima (Keely Smith's husband)
  • Sam Butera (Louis Prima's backup singer/sax player but still an amazing solo artist)
  • Ella Fitzgerald
  • Dean Martin
  • Frank Sinatra
  • Bobby Darin

if you haven't been very exposed to this music but would like to just let me know and i would love to make you a cd mix of all my favorite songs...i love making cd's...so let me know if you are interested and i will hook you up...until next week

The one with all the moving

so we moved on saturday......it was one of the longest, hardest moves we have done to date....and we have moved a whole lot...mind you......it was just so sad to move away from our home and everything that was so familiar and good....not that living in yorba linda with kev's parents isn't good...because it is.....it's just not ours and that's hard.....but we are so excited to see where God takes us next.....and eventhough we are still wanting to be at Saddleback we are totally willing to go and do anything that God wants for us......but until then we are going to keep attending and volunteering at Saddleback so we don't get all disconnected from our freinds.....it would be awesome if some of you guys could pray for us if you ever think about it because this is still a very trying time for us.....thank you

The one with the little known wendy fact #4

i know that everyone has weird quirky things about them....but i feel that some of my quirks are borderline OCD...you know...obcessive compulsive disorder...think jack nicholson's character in as good as it gets.....so here is what i do....i count....i count mainly while i am running and going up and down stairs....for instance i can tell you how many stairs i have to climb to get to our 3rd floor apartment....27....how many stairs are in both my in-laws' house and mom's house....14 each.....there were 13 stairs to get to my last job and there are 76 stairs to get to taffy and sue's from our apartment.....basically i can't not count stairs as i use them....then there is the counting while running....this is a newer one for me mainly because i haven't been running for long....so i count how many steps i take between cracks in the cement...so the inside of my brain while i am running sounds a little bit like this....1...2...3...4...1...2...3...1...2...3...4..5....1...2...1....2...3
....and so on and so forth....i even annoy myself with this but...nevertheless....it continues.................so to sum things up...i'm a freak....and if you live in a house with stairs.....i will count them everytime i go up and down them...and if you are in running distance i will count all the way to your house......

The one with the little known wendy fact #3

when i was three years old i ran through a sliding glass door.....i didn't run into it....no no...i ran completely through it......here's how it came to pass......i was with my family at one of our freind's house.....she and her husband were close family friends and we went over there a lot....the husband's name was Painter and he would always make these people for us out of the lemons that were on their tree in the back yard.....needless to say.....i loved going over there and watching him do this....so this particular day my sister and i were getting ready to go outside with Painter and for some reason i had to stay inside to get something for him and then meet them outside......now let me just say that i tended to be a very excited little girl and that, combined with my lightining speed running skills caused me to run completely through their sliding glass door and shatter it....leaving me face-down (in my favorite outfit mind you) on the ground in a huge pile of broke glass and blood.....needless to say i was passed out and one thing i remember when i woke up is my sister, joy, looking into the huge gash on my left knee telling me that she could see my bone...then i passed out again....so i made it to the doctor's safely and i got 16 stitches in my knee and another 5 on the side of my leg and 3 or so on my nose.....i also had minor cuts all over my face and body.....i was a sad looking little wendy....but i survived and i still have lots of scars to show for it today...which...in my book....makes it all worth while

The one about coffee and tea

hi there...i am writing you from the far off land of.....COLORADO....ooohhhh aaaahhhh.....anyways...i have been thinking lately about how much i love tea.....i basically have it every day.....the way that i unsually enjoy it is in my Nalgene water bottle.....i fill it up in the morning for my day at work and i plop a tea bag right in and presto...tea-flavored water....it has really helped me in my quest to drink more water because....let's admit it....water is kinda boring......so i have tea-water....GENIUS.....my other favorite way is to go to starbucks and order a:

venti
single tea bag earl grey (one tea bag for a venti=saved money for wendy)
with an inch or so of soy milk
and 6 honey packets

it is like liquid deliciousness....even if you aren't a tea fan you will probably enjoy this....now i don't drink coffee for many reasons but i have come up with a few scenarios in which i would allow myself to enjoy a cup or two.....

Scenario #1:
if i was ever on the trail in the wilderness like a real cowboy....you know trackin' injuns or herding cattle.....stuff like that....a cup of coffee would definetely be in order then

Scenario # 2:
if i went to europe....particularly france or italy....i would require myself to sit in a little cafe and sip cappuccino or some delicious cultural coffee....if there is such a thing

so there they are...the 2 situations when i would drink coffee....but until then i will stick to my tea....so what is your preference...coffee or tea?

The one with the little known wendy fact #2

ok so you may have noticed that i changed the title of this series from "unknown" to "little known"......my reasoning behind this is that i can't guarantee that these facts are indeed unknown...for instance....fact # 1 is totally known.....so i lied there...and i don't want to lie anymore so i have changed the title of this series.....i hope everyone understands.......ok so on with the fact....

little known wendy fact # 2: i LOVE going to the fair....i mean i LOVE LOVE LOVE it.....my family actually used to work at the orange county fair when i was little so i guess i could be considered a "carni"....is that even how you spell it?....anyways i get so excited in the months of july and september because i know that it's time for the orange and l.a. county fairs......now let me explain my passion for these events a little bit more clearly.....where else can you go and have thrilling rides, face painting, arts and crafts, ponies, jelly/jam/pickle making contests, shopping, beautiful gardens, people of all types, farm animals, and some of the most fun and crazy food ever?.....i mean where else can you eat:

  • deep-fried artichoke hearts
  • deep-fried avocados
  • deep-fried twinkies
  • deep-fried snickers ice cream bars on a stick
  • pork chops on a stick
  • deep-fried corn-on-the-cob
  • fried chicken and glazed krispy kreme donut sandwiches with honey
  • ten pound buns (pictured)
  • egg rolls on a stick
  • apple fries
  • gourmet specialties from around the globe (australian potatoes)
  • gigantic turkey legs that will make you look and feel like a viking
  • oreo yizzards (a sad attempt at renaming the dairy queen blizzard so not to get in trouble for name stealing)

i mean if you can deep-fry it and put it on a stick it can be sold at the fair....awesome.....so now that i got everyone's mouth watering....i will sign off...

THe one where the unknown facts about wendy begins

so everyone seems to have these weekly things that they post having to do with a like theme....so here is my attempt....every sunday i will post an unknown wendy fact...enjoy

UNKNOWN WENDY FACT#1
i can swing dance.....i used to go all of the time after i graduated high school...and i mean all of the time....like 3 or 4 hights a week and we'd be there for 2-4 hours....i did this pretty consistantly for a few months and i loved it....i haven't been in years though.....i kinda really miss it....we would always go to this place called memories in anaheim....it has since been torn down and turned into a starbucks....blast that starbucks and it's frappaccinos....anyways....it has been on my to do list for years to teach kev how so we can go sometimes....because it would not be so fun to dance with anyone else......so that is unknown wendy fact # 1

The one that's all about sweat

the funny thing about working out is the amount of sweat that a body can produce in a 1 hour gym class.....and i can sweat a lot....as my defense i would like to remind you that i also drink a ton of water.....around 3 liters a day....because of this i like to think that i have more to sweat.....to give you an idea of what i think a lot of sweat is i will fill you in on something that happens everytime i workout.....so....at the end of these classes they always have an abdominal segment and this is when i really notice the sweat.....it happens as i am lying on the ground and i begin to feel the sweat from my face traveling in the direction of my eyes...it then procedes to get into my eyes and sting them like crazy and there is so much of it that it will actually flow into my tear ducts and into the back of my throat....it is so gross and so weird all at the same time.....so as this was happening to me this morning i thought that one of you in blogland might be interested in that

The one with sydney bristow

since my last blog i have spent hours watching season 1 of alias.....i really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.....but the level of excitement that i felt about it got me wondering and asking God why i was so intrigued by it.....and i realized that i am bored with my life right now....and i know that there are so many huge things going on in my life right now which may cause you to question how i feel bored but nevertheless the feeling is there.....if any of you have ever seen the show you know how awesome sydney bristow (jennifer garner) is.....she is brave, heroic, pretty morally sound, an awesome fighter, and insanely smart.......but seeing a character like her left me with this unsettling feeling of unimportance....wondering what i have to offer the world and God....having this desire to use some of the skills i have developed in my kick boxing class to fight off an attacker with total confidence and ease......and feeling this urge to have some adventure/excitement in my life....i mean i would love to do what she does......but i know that God is not leading me there....so i am left with these desires and nowhere to channel them.....but then i remember God and the adventure of life that He has given me....and the enemies that He will have me fight against daily....and the knowlege i have of the most vital information that will save people's eternal lives......those things bring me encouragement and remind me of how much i have in common with sydney bristow

The one where alyssa came over

last night we had a visitor by the name of alyssa....we ate carne asada and carrot cake....we played a lot of take two (i won).....and we just relaxed and did a bit of singing (kev won).....it was super fun....i think the best things about having guests over are as follows:
1. i actually clean the apartment and it looks pretty
2. we turn on the air conditioning so we don't just sit around and sweat like the kev and i do every other night in summer
3. it's just fun
so i want to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in coming over for a night....i love to cook and the apartment will be cool and clean....i promise

The one with the sleeping kiss

the reeve's household has received a challenge from mr. pogue....we are both to blog about the story i referred to in my last blog about how i fell asleep while kissing the kev.....so here's my version.....as some of you may know i used to work @ trader joe's....for a while i worked 5 a.m. shifts exclusively and as you can imagine they completely wiped me out.....because of this i would constantly fall asleep.....so on this one night after work we had just gotten into bed and...you know....started kissing....as you can imagine darkness, closed eyes and laying down is not a good combination for someone who has borderline narcolepsy.....no matter how good the kissing is......so in the middle of the making out i dosed off and even had this weird mini dream in which i was kissing a stranger....then when i came back to my senses i pushed kevin away and kinda yelled at him saying, "who are you....where's all this love coming from?".....to which he answered,"kevin from yorba linda."......i basically woke up after that and we laughed and laughed and the time i fell asleep while kissing kev continues to be one of my favorite things to tell people....thank you very much

The one with the new haircut

i just got back from getting my hair cut....and there's something so so wonderful about it.....i love it......i really enjoy it when someone plays with my hair and there's really nowhere to go to pay to have my hair played with (and if there is i'm not sure that i'd want to go there).....but if you pay for a haircut you get around an hour of hair playing with included.....awesome.....sometimes i wonder if the stylist didn't chat it up so much if i would fall asleep because of how relaxed i get when my hair is being played with.....that would be really weird.....i fell asleep once when i got a facial and i woke up and kinda felt like i had been cheated because i missed the whole experience.....but then again i fall asleep really, really easily....just ask kevin....one time i fell asleep while we were kissing....man that's a funny story.....even the kev enjoys it....what a guy.....well to sum everything up my hair is much shorter, i got my hair played with and loved it, and i fall asleep easily......

snow Snow SNOW!!!

oh man it just snowed the other day out here and it is so gorgeous..it is melting pretty fast today but you can still see quite a bit of it in the backyard....i keep forgetting that it happened and so i get a little surprised each time i look out the window and see snow...but anyways..we were out taking pictures and our little cat escaped for a quick second...kev and i both got so freaked out and thought that it was the last time we would ever see our little chick..but she is safe and sound and is desperately trying to get back outside again..she really misses being an outdoor cat...
but we have been enjoying the snow and we went for a walk/run yesterday morning to enjoy it...and that was fun...really i have nothing else to write about though...i just felt like i needed to blog again..so here it is!!!
