The one that i like to call unemployment

as of an hour and a half ago kev and i are both unemployed.....i know that this may freak some people out but let me say how EXCITED i am......now we are not expecting this period to last for that long so i intend to make the most of it....here is what i plan to do......

  • sleep
  • do some painting.....for us and for gifts
  • kick box all the time
  • watch some tv/movies
  • read some books/magazines
  • spend some quality time with God
  • spend some quality time with kev
  • go to disneyland
  • hang out with freinds
  • do some cooking
  • blog a lot more than i have been
  • make my costume for allison's LOST party

i am just so excited about this time...i feel like it is my first real opportunity to unwind since all of the major change that has happened in our lives...with my dad's illness and death....not to mention the loss of 3 other family members.....with kev's job at saddleback ending.....and with us moving back in with kev's parents....i am looking forward to some much needed time to hang out and get recharged for whatever God has next for us

The one with the little known wendy fact #6

ok so i love going to disneyland......mind you i am not one of those people who love to go to disneyland wearing all of the disney paraphanalia that they own (i.e. mickey gloves, a goofy hat, a disneyland annual pass holder necklace, a dopey t-shirt, and a grumpy sweatshirt/jacket in case it gets cold, a minnie purse and maybe even tigger overalls)....no no that is not the kind of love that i have for disneyland.....i just love how nostalgic it is there....now i have been there a ton and i always tell kev that i could probably go everyday and not get tired of it....sure there are some elements that i don't like (the gazillion people, tomorrow land, the tram ride from the parking structure)....but then there are the things about it that i love and have so many memories of (going on space mountain with my dad when he was sick, shopping and hanging out there with my mom, being there at christmas time with kev, and all of the times that i would go dancing there with friends when we were young, and how excited i would get when i was a little girl and my parents suprised us with a trip there.....on a school day)....so that is why i love going to disneyland....in fact....i just went there today for my best friend, noelle's, birthday....it was awesome...we had gigantic corndogs and dole whip and i had 2 caramel apples...so good....plus we went on some rides and we pretty much kicked butt at the buzz lightyear game............anyways...needless to say i love disneyland

i absolutely love old music...you know standards....ok frank sinatra, dean martin......that kind of stuff......i am sitting here right now listening to this new ella fitzgerald cd that my mom gave me....there is something so encompassing about this music.....it sets a whole scene and reminds me of the good old days......sometimes kev and i play this game where he will play little snippets of songs and i have to guess the artist....i pretty much rule at it and he is always amazed at my talent in this area....i kinda think it could be considered a spiritual gift but who am i to tell....so before i am done with this post i will tell you of some of my favorite singers in this genre....
  • Peggy Lee
  • Billy Holiday
  • Nat King Cole
  • Keely Smith (my mom was named Keely after her)
  • Louis Prima (Keely Smith's husband)
  • Sam Butera (Louis Prima's backup singer/sax player but still an amazing solo artist)
  • Ella Fitzgerald
  • Dean Martin
  • Frank Sinatra
  • Bobby Darin

if you haven't been very exposed to this music but would like to just let me know and i would love to make you a cd mix of all my favorite songs...i love making cd's...so let me know if you are interested and i will hook you up...until next week

The one with all the moving

so we moved on saturday......it was one of the longest, hardest moves we have done to date....and we have moved a whole lot...mind you......it was just so sad to move away from our home and everything that was so familiar and good....not that living in yorba linda with kev's parents isn't good...because it is.....it's just not ours and that's hard.....but we are so excited to see where God takes us next.....and eventhough we are still wanting to be at Saddleback we are totally willing to go and do anything that God wants for us......but until then we are going to keep attending and volunteering at Saddleback so we don't get all disconnected from our freinds.....it would be awesome if some of you guys could pray for us if you ever think about it because this is still a very trying time for us.....thank you

i know that everyone has weird quirky things about them....but i feel that some of my quirks are borderline OCD...you know...obcessive compulsive disorder...think jack nicholson's character in as good as it gets.....so here is what i do....i count....i count mainly while i am running and going up and down stairs....for instance i can tell you how many stairs i have to climb to get to our 3rd floor apartment....27....how many stairs are in both my in-laws' house and mom's house....14 each.....there were 13 stairs to get to my last job and there are 76 stairs to get to taffy and sue's from our apartment.....basically i can't not count stairs as i use them....then there is the counting while running....this is a newer one for me mainly because i haven't been running for long....so i count how many steps i take between cracks in the cement...so the inside of my brain while i am running sounds a little bit like this....1...2...3...4...1...2...3...1...2...3...4..5....1...2...1....2...3
....and so on and so forth....i even annoy myself with this but...nevertheless....it continues.................so to sum things up...i'm a freak....and if you live in a house with stairs.....i will count them everytime i go up and down them...and if you are in running distance i will count all the way to your house......

The one with the little known wendy fact #3

when i was three years old i ran through a sliding glass door.....i didn't run into it....no no...i ran completely through it......here's how it came to pass......i was with my family at one of our freind's house.....she and her husband were close family friends and we went over there a lot....the husband's name was Painter and he would always make these people for us out of the lemons that were on their tree in the back yard.....needless to say.....i loved going over there and watching him do this....so this particular day my sister and i were getting ready to go outside with Painter and for some reason i had to stay inside to get something for him and then meet them outside......now let me just say that i tended to be a very excited little girl and that, combined with my lightining speed running skills caused me to run completely through their sliding glass door and shatter it....leaving me face-down (in my favorite outfit mind you) on the ground in a huge pile of broke glass and blood.....needless to say i was passed out and one thing i remember when i woke up is my sister, joy, looking into the huge gash on my left knee telling me that she could see my bone...then i passed out again....so i made it to the doctor's safely and i got 16 stitches in my knee and another 5 on the side of my leg and 3 or so on my nose.....i also had minor cuts all over my face and body.....i was a sad looking little wendy....but i survived and i still have lots of scars to show for it today...which...in my book....makes it all worth while

The one about coffee and tea

hi there...i am writing you from the far off land of.....COLORADO....ooohhhh aaaahhhh.....anyways...i have been thinking lately about how much i love tea.....i basically have it every day.....the way that i unsually enjoy it is in my Nalgene water bottle.....i fill it up in the morning for my day at work and i plop a tea bag right in and presto...tea-flavored water....it has really helped me in my quest to drink more water because....let's admit it....water is kinda boring......so i have tea-water....GENIUS.....my other favorite way is to go to starbucks and order a:

venti
single tea bag earl grey (one tea bag for a venti=saved money for wendy)
with an inch or so of soy milk
and 6 honey packets

it is like liquid deliciousness....even if you aren't a tea fan you will probably enjoy this....now i don't drink coffee for many reasons but i have come up with a few scenarios in which i would allow myself to enjoy a cup or two.....

Scenario #1:
if i was ever on the trail in the wilderness like a real cowboy....you know trackin' injuns or herding cattle.....stuff like that....a cup of coffee would definetely be in order then

Scenario # 2:
if i went to europe....particularly france or italy....i would require myself to sit in a little cafe and sip cappuccino or some delicious cultural coffee....if there is such a thing

so there they are...the 2 situations when i would drink coffee....but until then i will stick to my tea....so what is your preference...coffee or tea?
